boxing

grey open cardi (Cotton On) - $5
mulberry shorts (Cotton On) - $15
baby pink sleeveless button down (Cocolatte) - $12
heeled ankle boots (Rubi) - $40
gold watch (Grandma's gift)
I know, I know, I've worn these shorts for like three days straight - don't worry they're in the wash now. Today I went Boxing Day shopping in the city with dah best friend. Bought quite a bit and I can't wait to wear the pieces. The sales were pretty insane, we had to line up to get into Topshop and Glue. It was so packed, it was crazy. In some stores it was just horrible, like body heat and bad BO - you just wanted to die. The lines to the change rooms, oh my god, they were ridiculous. Don't even get me started on the line to just pay. But I guess if you end up buying stuff you like, then it's all worth it. Overall, it was a pretty productive shopping day. Today I realised how good it felt to buy clothes, knowing you've dropped dress sizes. Like even just thinking, oh the medium's too big - its like dang that felt good.

Saw the cutest pickup line today, it went something along the lines of  "The prettiest girl is the girl with the biggest smile" - so true.

say nothing

diamond sunset top (Cotton On) - $10
mulberry shorts (Cotton On) - $15
gladiators - $10
gold watch (Grandma's gift)

 Hey, hi, hello.

So this week has been an alright week - more work, less play. I spent most of my week working - 4 days in a row - what you get for being a christmas casual, the week before christmas. I get home and don't feel like doing anything so I've just been watching Once Upon A Time, it's not bad. But, I want to sew some skirts for summer, yet I literally haven't had the time. I'm also in the midst of putting up home decor in my room and its all just a bit silly and crazy. The other day I bought a canvas print from Typo for five dollars and its still just sitting against the closet door cause I have no idea where I'm gonna put it. I also have this sudden urge to get combat boots but it's not really my style. However I've recently been exploring new ground with clothing, I'm buying and trying on clothes that I usually wouldn't. I guess its cause I've been dubbed #grandmagracie by my friends, so I'm trying to dress... younger and more my age LOL. Oh and we survived the apocalypse - thats a plus. hahas. Christmas is on its way - my family don't celebrate it so its not a big issue in my household. Then new years... then 2013. #lolwhuthowistimegoingsofast

Hope you're well and happy and merry and joyful.. and.. yeah.. I'm just gonna stop now.

coogee beach: results day

wearing: Parrow Bow Bandeau Bikini - Dotti - $10 - on sale rrp: $30

Yesterday year 12 students found out their results from the infamous Higher School Certificate. Anxious kids got up at 6am to check. I didn't end up getting up till at least 8:30. I'm pretty happy with what I got, surprised mostly, cause I honestly was expecting worse. My school ranked 4th in the state: so proud of all of them! So to celebrate or more so to take our minds off of it, my bestfriends and I and my friend Terry, went to the beach to let off steam. Yesterday was one of the first days, in years and I mean years, that I stepped out in a bikini at the beach. During the whole adolescent stage of my life, I was so body conscious that I didn't have the guts to step out into such a public place with only two pieces of fabric covering your bits and bobs - it absolutely frightened me. But yesterday I think I got to a point in my life where I realised, who cares - as long as you're happy and having fun, stuff the rest. It felt deliriously amazing to be in the water, (not so much now cause I'm sunburnt), but nonetheless exhilarating. Honestly can't wait to spend more time at the beach.

But since I got onto the topic of body issues, Gracie's fingers can't stop typing right now lolol. I want to talk about how popular culture has a duty in its actions in shaping the mentality of hundreds of thousands of girls, ladies and women.

Imagine you have a scale infront of you and the needle range is, from left to right, skinny to voluptuous. I reckon I sit in the middle, I'm  average sized, but the more I think about it, the needle for me probably sits slightly tilted to the right.

It's the sheer ability of our minds to alter what we believe is true. I think to some extent, we're all body conscious, everyone.

The other day I was out shopping with my best friend, I pointed out a girl, whom I felt was of equal body size to me. I asked him, is my body like hers? He said, no your skinnier. And for some reason this moment stuck with me and especially cause its from a guys perspective. In all honesty I know some people just say stuff like "no you are skinny" out of respect or even pity. But coming from my best friend, whom wouldn't sugar coat it cause that's the kind of relationship we have, you kind of take a step back and go, oh hey I'm not that fat.

Which brings me to my next point, I think I watched this on some show, where a whole line of women were lined up and the main lady was told to position herself in the life in accordance to where she felt her body sat at. And every single time the women would position themselves near the wider end. It's later revealed that she's the thinnest ones there. This is the most basic evidence of how every women sees themselves bigger than they really are.

It's like we're programmed to add weight mentally when we look in the mirror - which in all honesty scares me. It's like.. woahhh deception.

I don't know, just something to think about. If you've actually read this far, I commend you hahas.

p.s. world's ending tomorrow apparently - greaaaaat..... apocalypse before I'm even 18

red skirt with little black hearts (Cotton On) - $10

black flats (Rubi) - $5

Went to work today.
So tomorrow all us year 12-ers get our hsc results. Its hit me.. but hasn't hit me. Like it comes in stages, I think about it and my palms start sweating and my heart beats faster. Blahhhh I hate this.
On another note, three of my friends topped the state in three subjects: textiles, modern history (yes!) and economics - amazing, so proud of them.
I'm scared, argh. Here we go.

the surprise

So about three months ago, my bestfriend's sister contacted me about doing a surprise 18th for her. My bestfriend, Vickie, already had her birthday in October, but her birthday was literally like 10 days before the HSC. So we talked of having it after the HSC. All this organising was going into place without Vickie having a single clue. It was hilarious cause when I saw her last Wednesday for our waterfight, she asked both my other bestfriend and I what we were up to, we both were like.. uhhhh you knoww..... nothing muccchhhhh just chilling at home, when in fact we were doing shopping for her gifts or making her present.

At some points I really wanted to tell her, about the stress, about how I would be on the phone with her sister all night - in particular this one-hour conversation about fondant. But I didn't want to be the one to ruin it.

Last night was a ball. My bud Rohan, hosted the program with me. When we wrote the speech for it, we were like yeah this is gonna be amazeballs. When we got on stage, we were like whatdaflip, this is so embarrassing. Hahahs. It was a night full of surprises - legit. One of my childhood friends came to perform a little magic show, my guy friends and Vickie's sister trolled me for not staying over on Friday night to bake cupcakes (I had to work!!!) but the list is endless. We later danced the night away, so much fun. All the girls were in heels and my friend Anika was like 'screw this I'm pulling out my thongs'. I later proceeded to wear my flats. Hahahs.

Vickie was surprised - which was the goal. I had heaps of fun and I hope she did too.

12.12.12

Helllooooo :)

Today is the 12th of December 2012.
My best friends and I decided to have a colour water fight. Buying some white shirts, grabbing a couple of nerf guns and some food dye, we took our immaculate tools to the park. I honestly had so much fun, but always ended up getting covered in ink the most, cause when I get targeted I just freeze - it's hopeless. We covered our shirts really quickly and realised we should have brought more shirts. So one of my best friends ran home and got us some old shirts. Round two began and we went crazy!! Ahhh it was so much fun!

12 of the 12th of the 12th, you do anything special?

newcastle

Went up north to Newcastle today with my friend Landy. We went to the beach, which is now a constant reminder as my shoulders are sunburnt - depressing. We also went to the art gallery and drew this vase full of native Australian plants as a challenge. I drew the colourful one and felt so silly cause the last time I drew with coloured pencils was ages ago - childish memories. Had an amazing day.

it's beginning to look a lot like christmas

dark teal/blue top (Big W) - $5
aztec print bodycon skirt (Tatto) - $5
thongs (Kmart) - $2

Today I went to the pool with my mum and grandma, then later having lunch with my grandpa. I haven't been swimming in ages, so it was lots of fun to be in the water. My hair is still so poofy after washing it - sigh. Lately I've been busy working but for the coming week I'm hoping to hit the beach, do some silly dancing (ayee), have lunch with some mates and doing a day trip up north with my friend.

Here we go December, it's gonna be a big one. Can't wait for Christmas (I already know what I want) and New Years - exciting! 2013 is already so close - scary right?!!
